I am indebted to you personally for electing me as President of this august body, which is the front runner of arthroplasty in our country and encompasses every aspect of it, be it shoulder or knee. Our association is now more than two decades old and growing stronger day by day with increasing number of members every year. Now we have 550 members and I urge all of you to double it this by following the principle of each one, get one. Because members are the strength of our association.
As this decade ends in this millennium, we are moving towards a greater technology in arthroplasty to have more precision in our techniques. However, our aim should be to bridge the gap between the surgeon and patient satisfaction outcome in arthroplasty. This needs a better interpersonal relationship and preoperative counselling about realistic outcomes. One need to get updated about standard guidelines for carrying out the procedure in order to avoid litigations, which will be a problem for the future generations to come.
One must not forget the basics. Everyday we learn from each patient. Hence it is wiser to stay hungry and stay foolish to welcome nitty gritties of basic arthroplasty techniques and try to improve it each day. Our fellowships help in training young orthopods in this aspect.
We stand on the shoulders of our forerunners like Prof KT Dholakia, Prof PS Maini, Prof NS Laud, Prof ON Nagi and Prof MS Dhillon to leap into the future of Indian Arthroplasty. Hence dear friends, let’s march ahead with our new responsibilities in the new millennium.
Any suggestions are welcome in my personal email id : firstname.lastname@example.org.
